Position: Academic Dean (Bilingual Mandarin)
Responsibilities:
Faculty Management and Development:
-Interview, supervise, and evaluate teaching staff to maintain instructional excellence and professionalism. -Provide guidance and support for faculty development, fostering a culture of continuous learning. -Organize professional development opportunities such as workshops and seminars to enhance teaching effectiveness and subject expertise.
Academic Leadership:
-Collaborate with department heads and administrators to coordinate academic activities across departments. -Act as a liaison between faculty, administration, and external stakeholders to advocate academic interests and foster collaboration. -Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional guidelines.
Student Support and Success:
-Work closely with student services to address academic concerns and support student success initiatives. -Monitor student progress and academic performance, implementing interventions as necessary to enhance learning outcomes. -Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts to promote academic programs and opportunities.
Institutional Planning and Assessment:
-Contribute to strategic planning by providing input on academic priorities and goals. -Lead efforts to assess academic program effectiveness through data analysis and program evaluation. -Generate reports and recommendations based on assessment findings to support decision-making and quality improvement efforts.
Curriculum Development:
-Collaborate with faculty members to develop and refine curriculum frameworks aligning with educational standards and institutional goals. -Ensure curriculum alignment with national and international accreditation standards, integrating best practices in teaching and learning methodologies. -Regularly assess existing programs to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. -Assist in sourcing instructional materials to diversify and enhance teaching content.
Teaching:
-Serve as an instructor for courses within your area of expertise, delivering high-quality instruction to students. -Employ effective teaching strategies to engage students and facilitate active learning experiences. -Stay abreast of developments in your field and incorporate relevant content and methodologies into your teaching. -Provide mentorship and support to students, offering guidance on academic and career-related matters. -Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages intellectual curiosity and academic growth. -Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary teaching approaches and initiatives. -Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and other academic activities to contribute to the overall educational mission of the institution. -Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publication, and conference presentations to enhance your teaching effectiveness and professional development.
Qualifications:
*Master's or doctoral degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field. *Previous experience in academic administration, preferably in a leadership capacity. *Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional design, and educational assessment principles. *Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities. *Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners. *Knowledge of educational regulations, accreditation standards, and quality assurance processes. *Demonstrated commitment to excellence, equity, and innovation in education.
*Proficiency in both English and Mandarin, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages, particularly in a bilingual educational setting.
