Role Summary: The Nuclear Pharmacist will play an essential role in leading PET (and SPECT) site operations in day-to-day manufacturing/compounding, quality control and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals to satellite sites throughout the state of Hawai’i. In addition to managing operations, the position will hire, supervise and train staff in the production, QC and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals and provide site leadership to meet company goals, regulatory compliance and lead a customer-focused business.
Job Responsibilities and Duties: • Trained and qualified in all aspects of State of Hawaii Board of Pharmacy operations, and maintain required licensing to compound and dispense PET and SPECT radiopharmaceuticals in the State of Hawai’i. • Operate a facility that meets all applicable regulatory requirements, including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cGMP manufacturing rules, Nuclear Regulatory Commission radiation safety, Department of Transportation rules governing shipping of radioactivity by ground and air, State of Hawai’i Board of Pharmacy, and other applicable federal, state, and local island regulations; • Assist Facility Manager in hiring, supervision and training of facility staff in the production/compounding, quality control testing and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals; • Oversee and perform SPECT radiopharmaceutical preparation, quality control, and dispensing; • Perform PET compounding, manufacturing, quality control, and distribution; • Release radiopharmaceutical products when quality control test results are within specifications; • Have a hands-on role in all quality assurance (QA) duties for the site, including:
Job Requirements │ Skills │ Education: • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, radiology, nuclear medicine, nuclear physics, nuclear engineering or related field, or equivalent experience AND/OR PharmD degree. • Board certified Nuclear Pharmacist required. • Familiarity with a GMP manufacturing environment and working with board of pharmacy, NRC and FDA cGMP regulations required. • Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical production, compounding and distribution desired. • Experience managing teams in a matrixed organization. Supervisory experience preferred. • Experience with cyclotrons, radionuclide generators, radiochemistry synthesis, US FDA cGMP, QC testing (e.g. HPLC, GC, TLC, sterility testing), Radiation Safety Principles, Isotopes production and analytical equipment troubleshooting and maintenance a plus. • Superior teamwork, multi-tasking, and time/project management skills. • Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving, presentation and computer/pc skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Suit and related software). • Ability to work varying shifts.
Salary: $110,000-$180,000
Physical and Intellectual Requirements: Required are a mechanical aptitude; manual dexterity for manipulating small items; ability to lift between 16 to 50 lbs. and to handle frequent crawling, stooping, crouching, and kneeling; ability to analyze situations, set priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; effective organizational skills; a commitment to continuous learning; an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
