    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Marketing Reviewer is critical to this transformation and conducts the day-to-day review for all materials using the GBT logo and company name. This role functions as the subject matter expert of the review process, relevant guidelines, and partners closely with Compliance, Legal, and American Express to proofread, review, and approve materials, and to help operate an efficient review process.

    This role also works closely with the Marketing Department and other key stakeholders to ensure compliance with brand, editorial, and visual identity guidelines, regulatory requirements, and compliance policies, as well as other risk-related issues. This role requires the quick mastery of GBT's various guidelines and the ability to apply them consistently across materials. Strong writing and/or editorial skills combined with knowledge of a wide range of marketing collateral and their related sales practices is an asset for this position. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Brand Management and Design, and is a key role on the Global Marketing team.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

    • Candidate will own projects within the marketing review process to help review, escalate, and approve submissions not limited to marketing and sales collateral, documentation, messaging, products, and reports
    • Conduct brand review of global materials as per GBT's visual identity guidelines
    • Proof/review and approve low-risk materials as per compliance and legal rules, using internal guidelines
    • Obtain brand review from American Express for specified materials
    • When required, escalate high-risk materials to compliance and legal for their review and approval
    • Identify and bring forward in an organized fashion specific questions for compliance and legal to enable an efficient review. The ability to understand the item at hand, to analytically apply GBT's processes to it, and then communicate effectively to the review partners is critical for success in the role.
    • Diplomatically provide accurate brand, editorial, and compliance guidance/feedback to key stakeholders across the organization including but not limited to: Marketing, Product, PR, and sales teams. The ability to understand the feedback and apply it accurately is critical. The candidate will need to successfully communicate required edits, as well as provide the brand, legal or regulatory basis for the changes, and be able to provide suggested alternatives to problematic language
    • Review all print and digital communications including, but not limited to: decks, slides, videos, scripts, images, factsheets, FAQs, white papers, direct mail, RFP answers, newsletters, ads, banner ads, blog posts, articles, emails, web pages, web platforms, UIs, social media, interactive assets, infographics, press releases, speakers notes, event assets, and event invitations
    • Master and consistently apply GBT guidelines including, but not limited to: editorial, visual identity, brand, digital marketing standards, MP54 pipeline, video, social media
    • Develop systems to improve efficiencies as the process grows
    • Maintain the records of all approved and declined materials as per internal policies and procedures
    • Keep abreast of brand and disclosure changes across the global organization and update documents accordingly
    • Assist with other aspects of the review program as necessary
    • Assist the broader content team with ad hoc requests and/or copywriting/editing

    COMPLEXITY:

    • This is an individual contributor role without any direct reports
    • Candidate is responsible for the processes and workflows described above and generally will work autonomously, subject to feedback from constituents and coaching and guidance from his/her manager
    • WORKING LONG HOURS MAY BE REQUIRED

    REQUIREMENTS:

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years reviewing and/or editing marketing communications and external materials
    • College degree or equivalent work experience required
    • Exceptional writing and editorial skills
    • Proficiency in Chicago Manual of Style (AP style a plus)
    • Ability to fully absorb and consistently apply brand, legal, and compliance rules across materials
    • Strategic thinker who quickly synthesizes new information and can action against it appropriately
    • Ability to apply coaching and feedback from manager and review partners to grow in the role
    • Proven verbal communication skills a
    • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to collaborate well with internal and external partners at all levels and with all personality types
    • Positive attitude and professional demeanor while working across the organization and across global cultures
    • Strong project management and organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Successfully manage challenging workflow independently within deadlines and with a high level of integrity
    • Can prioritize appropriately across multiple documents and quickly respond to haste requests
    • Highly unflappable and ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (THESE WOULD BE A PLUS):

    • Degree in English, Communications, or Journalism
    • B2B and/or B2B2C copywriting, copyediting, and/or collateral development
    • Digital copy experience (email, social, banner ads, website, etc.)
    • Ability to write across different types of collateral (PowerPoint slides, scripts, factsheets, digital, etc.)
    • Experience in the travel industry, financial services industry, and/or an institutional sales organization
    • Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop capabilities
    • Understanding of Marketing automation tools (such as Workfront, Marketo, etc.)
    • This position is NOT remote and works in our Jersey City, New Jersey office.
