  • Responsibilities

    General Summary

    Participates in build, design, configuration, integration, maintenance, training, and test of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).

    *Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential functions)

    • Participates in rapid prototyping for the design process for drones*
    • Make recommendations for modification during the design process based on feedback from previous testing results to meet desired specifications.*
    • Performs assembly of mechanical and electrical drones, integration and test, and buildup of assemblies & subassemblies*
    • Uses a variety of machine shop tools and other items including CNC mills, 3D printers, etc.
    • May use CAD tools to assist in designing models for drone assembly*
    • Documents processes and build techniques *
    • Provides technical support to stakeholders and troubleshoots issues*
    • Participates in testing, data collection and analysis*
    • Prepares reports for leadership discussions on the process and recommends process improvement*
    • May conduct training and develop training curriculum
    • May assist with procurement of parts & supplies
    • Travel for field testing and/or project meetings may be required
    • May pilot drone following a specific flight plan or obtaining useful footage

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 9 years of related experience
    • Demonstrated background in mechanical or assembly background
    • Must demonstrate reasonable level of manual dexterity for purposes of operating various computerized production equipment to include CNC routers, mills, 3D printers, and basic hand tools.
    • Experience with electrical and mechanical components
    • Ability to obtain Secret Security clearance within 6 months of hire; US Citizenship required
    • Willingness to travel for field testing and or project meetings if needed
    • This is an on-site position

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Supply chain chain management to include procurement of parts, vendor selection & inventory control
    • Experience with service delivery and ensuring optimal performance and quality of products and/or service
    • Familiarity with basic computer skills, (Office 365)
