    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY: THIS IS A 100% REMOTE ROLE

    The Sr. Instructional Designer I is responsible for producing performance-based, interactive learning experiences that will meet the business needs of the departments and the overall organization so they can effectively meet the needs of our valued customers. This is a highly collaborative team environment and uses proven instructional design methodologies to analyze learning needs, design and develop content, define measurement strategies and assess the effectiveness of various learning programs.  

     

    Under limited supervision, the Sr. Instructional Designer must have a detailed working knowledge of adult learning principles with a specific focus on leadership and organizational development. They will develop training programs and learning materials using a variety of tools and learning methodologies. Projects may include vILT, CBT, leadership and organizational development, including interactive scenarios, role plays, simulations, ongoing reinforcement and engagement, etc. A wide knowledge of the approaches and technology is vital.

     

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

     

    • Collaborates with subject matter experts throughout the organization to analyze needs, develop appropriate learning objectives, and gather, manage and maintain information.

    • Follows the process and schedule for regular audits of learning programs to assist with the overall alignment departmental and organizational business objectives and to ensure that the information is up-to-date.

    • Selects and recommends appropriate media and delivery methods for content

    • Manages role-based learning programs of varying scales from discovery through evaluation within specific timeframes

    • Ensures department quality standards and appropriate implementation of content.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS:

     

    PROBLEM SOLVING:

    • Identify, recommend, and implement learning solutions for business areas based on analysis of learner’s needs.
    • Use a high level of creativity and sound judgment required to
      • engage learners and determine the level of interactivity, in order to achieve desired learning outcomes.
      • Seek out assistance to resolve conflicts between subject matter experts when design decisions reach an impasse.
      • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of courseware after release and develop actionable strategies and solutions if desired results are not achieved.

     

    DECISION MAKING: Decisions made in this position can be very complex and non-routine. Most decisions pertain to gaining agreement on content to be included in a course, the level of interactivity, and the selection of the appropriate development tool or media with which to use. Sr. Instructional Designer will review, analyze, and facilitate discussions to ensure content directly supports performance-based learning objectives.

     

    SPAN OF INFLUENCE: Sr. Instructional Designer will design and develop learning materials that provide the organization with the appropriate knowledge and skills to be successful. Poor decisions could have negative impact on our customers and raise compliance issues, so this position must have a high degree of experience and skill.

    • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, education-related field, or equivalent work experience
    • 8 – 10 years in an instructional design/development position preferred
    • Strong Knowledge of adult learning principles required
    • Strong knowledge of key instructional design concepts and practices
    • Strong written and oral communication skills – demonstrated ability to produce clearly written learning materials and articulate key concepts in a clear and condensed manner
    • Must be proficient in MS Office products
    • Expert knowledge of current development tools and trends preferred.
    • High level of critical thinking skills
