    JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN (J1)

    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    We currently have openings for Journeyman Electrician candidates who have a passion for safety, is a self-starter, takes initiative, can communicate effectively, and can work independently in a manufacturing environment.     This position performs electrical troubleshooting in a heavy industrial environment. Specific skills necessary include calibration, troubleshooting, proper repair, precision installation, successful start-up, and reliability of all related facility equipment.

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    • Commitment to safety and quality
    • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
    • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
    • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
    • Ability to learn through self-directed study and desire for advancement
    • Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)
    • Operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
    • Excellent attendance record with flexibility to work rotating shifts & overtime
    • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.
    • Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and make adjustments to equipment.
    • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
    • Maintains cooperative working relationships, demonstrates a positive attitude and consideration towards fellow employees and supervision.
    • Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision.

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum Journeyman skill level experience in industrial electrical systems.

    • Electrical experience in the following: AC and DC drives, Circuit Protection and Switch Gears, Transformers, Cable and Conduit Installation, Switches and Control Devices, and Programmable controls.

    • High voltage experience a plus

    • Pulp and Paper industry experience a definite plus.

    • Industry experience is a plus.

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification is preferred.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • GENERAL SCHEDULE IS A MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 8-HOUR ASSIGNMENT, HOWEVER, EMPLOYEE MUST BE WILLING TO WORK ALTERNATE SCHEDULES OCCASIONALLY; THAT MAY INCLUDE EARLY MORNINGS, NIGHTS, WEEKENDS, AND/OR HOLIDAYS AND BE PUNCTUAL WHILE DOING SO. OCCASIONAL OVERNIGHT TRAVEL TO INCLUDE FLYING, DRIVING, RIDING OR BY RAIL.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
    • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
    • Routine Lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Proficiency in using hand tools, depth micrometers and precision measuring tools, welders, grinders, lathes, milling machines, etc.
    • Standing and sitting for extended periods and awkward or repetitive movements at times
    • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • High School diploma/GED required; Associates degree preferred.
    • Six months medical documentation related experience or training preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities.
    • Able to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision.
    • Able to use technology to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills.
    • Listens well and retains instructions; accepts constructive feedback from supervisor.
    • A track record of being consistent with attendance and prompt arrival at work and meetings.
