  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Network Engineer II is responsible for providing day to day operational support for the enterprise data network's access layer, as well as designing and testing new core and access layer network configurations. They are also responsible for analyzing existing network configurations and identifying areas for improved efficiencies.

    Essential Functions:  Manages LAN/WAN hardware equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and wireless network equipment.  Responsible for design, implementation, planning and capacity management of the telecommunications environment.  Establishes operational best practices and standard operating procedures for deployment, support, break-fix, and management of the company network.  Holds vendors & telecom carriers accountable to resolve systemic issues, bugs and abnormally high failure rates.  Assesses utilization trends and make appropriate design and implementation recommendations to scale the architecture.  Assists in the planning and management of all aspects of Network and Telephony projects.  Provides on-call support.  Leads problem solving efforts involving vendors and internal staff.  Ensures networks are highly available and meet the performance requirements of the business.  Develops procedures and standards for supporting the organizations IT Infrastructure.  Stays current with technological developments and provides recommendations about how the organization can benefit from new technology solutions.  Conducts training in area of expertise as required.  Mentors Level I and Level II Telecommunications and Networking Engineers.

    Other Functions:  Perform related duties as required.

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:  Bachelor’s degree in related area required.  A minimum of 5 years supporting an enterprise networking environment.  Advanced knowledge of LANs, WANs, MPLS, VOIP and SIP, Routing Protocols, and QOS is required.  Advanced ability to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain network systems and solutions to ensure efficient operations  Working knowledge of protocol analyzers and network monitoring software preferred.  Advanced knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSFP, MPLS, IPSEC, and other networking protocols.  Advanced knowledge of networking hardware including Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, application acceleration and management platforms required.  Specific knowledge of load balancing platforms such as F5 and Citrix preferred.  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities.  Able to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision.  Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills; ability to interact professionally with a diverse group consisting of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.  Listens well and retains instructions; accepts constructive feedback from supervisor.  A track record of being consistent with attendance and prompt arrival at work and meetings.  Ability to perform job with integrity and values consistent with the Numotion Mission.
