  • Responsibilities

    Wilson & Company is seeking a professional engineer to serve as a Civil Project Engineer in our Loveland, CO office. This position will function as the lead design engineer/design manager on projects and include limited management responsibilities. The candidate will be responsible for developing plans and specifications following applicable standards. The candidate shall have an excellent understanding of the design process and mentor a team of engineers. Duties will also include communication with and coordination of other engineers, clients, agencies, and consultants, as needed, to complete projects.

    The candidate must be a licensed Professional Engineer and have experience with roadway design, land development design, drainage design, and general civil engineering. Experience developing construction bid packages for multi-discipline, multi-standard projects for local agencies is preferred. (e.g., CDOT, City of Fort Collins, Larimer County)

    The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can multitask and pay close attention to detail. We are looking for someone with a detailed understanding of roadway, grading, drainage and utility design. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and established client relationships who enjoys working in a team environment in a fast-paced, professional setting.

    Responsibilities:

    • Client and design team interaction and coordination.
    • Coordinate the plans and schedules of detailed phases of the engineering work. Monitors time schedules and job costs and adjusts to comply with each.
    • Performs the design of major projects, and checks design work of staff and design engineers assigned to projects under their control.
    • Mentors and trains junior engineering staff.

    Required Skills

    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil3D software is a must.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas to team members and clients.

    Desired Skills:

    • Proficiency with ProjectWise and MicroStation.
    • Ability to develop scopes and fees for new projects.
    • Excellent task management skills, including preparation of work plans, budgets, and project schedules, are desired.
    • Ability to meet the demands defined by the scopes of each project.
    • Team building, leadership, staff management skills.
    • High level of independence, confidence, and strong work ethic.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or related curriculum.
    • Licensed Professional Engineer in CO or ability to obtain within six months.
    • 4+ years of engineering design experience.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple team members and coordinate effectively with other engineers and technicians.
    • Knowledgeable of and experienced with federal, state, and local regulations that pertain to civil design projects.
    • Experience writing proposals and working with marketing teams to develop technical approaches and win strategies.
    • Involvement in professional organizations to expand knowledge and professional networks.

    Annual Salary range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00
