    Wilson & Company is seeking a Civil Engineer in Training with hands on traffic operations analysis and design experience to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. This position will perform evaluations in traffic operations, safety, traffic design (signals, maintenance-of-traffic, signing, striping), multimodal design/complete streets design and project management. They will work in conjunction with the project managers, peer engineers and CADD team members to coordinate the traffic analysis and design with other project disciplines to meet project deadlines for various projects throughout Utah and other regions as needed.


    Essential Job Functions

    • Develop technical traffic analysis for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities utilizing multiple software and programs as necessary.
      • Perform technical traffic analysis to identify traffic operations and safety related deficiencies for all modes.
      • Identify mitigation alternatives or safety countermeasures to correct deficiencies for current and future traffic conditions.
      • Evaluate alternatives and document measures of effectiveness to recommend proposed improvements.
      • Produce traffic reports in multiple forms to document all analysis.
    • Maintenance of Traffic – development of alternatives and design/construction plans to maintain traffic during construction of transportation improvements.
    • Signing, pavement marking, and traffic signal design – prepare design/ construction documents for permanent signing, pavement marking, and traffic signal plans based on MUTCD guidance and standards.
    • Marketing and Business Development – Assist in the development of proposals to secure new business for traffic related work and as part of multi-discipline projects.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Synchro traffic simulation software.
    • Experience with AutoTURN.
    • Experience with SignCAD.
    • Experience with Synchro traffic simulation software.
    • Experience with other traffic analysis programs, such as HCS, Vissim, TransModeler, Sidra, Rodel.
    • Experience with Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
    • Experience with AutoTURN.
    • Experience with SignCAD.
    • Knowledge of the MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual, and other traffic analysis/design guidelines.
    • Understand of basic principles of travel demand forecasting including 4-step models and activity based models.
    • Experience with TransCAD and PTV VISUM software platforms.

    Required Experience

    • BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
    • Zero to four years of hands-on experience.
    • Engineering Intern Certification
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, primarily Word and Excel.

    Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000 (Depending on Experience)
