    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Program Director is responsible for providing cause-Driven management, direction, development and supervision of a multi-site, Before and After School Enrichment program within a designated regional area.  Operating in a state-licensed Youth Development setting, this position is a member of the senior leadership program team. The Program Director requires strong skills in hiring, staffing, scheduling, quality execution, budget management, relationship management and programming. Ensures adherence of all Y and regional Office of standards as required within the Maryland State Department of Education.  Day to day operations include relationship management with external contacts, coaching associates toward successful programming and contributing to new program development.   The Program Director is responsible for managing a budget, invoicing and partnering with external vendors as needed.  The Program Director optimizes all associate talent on his/her team, conduct mock audits and skills practice sessions, share best practices with other regional Program Directors and handle any family or associate escalations that may occur. Direct reports will include all Site Directors and subsequently their Teachers and Aides throughout the region.  The Program Director will work closely with the Sr. Program Director of Licensing Operations for all licensure, Y compliance and new site development opportunities. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Directs and supervises program associates and their activities to meet the needs of the school community and fulfill Y licensing and Y standard objectives.
    • Manages execution of consistent program processes, training and quality control measures to ensure all associates are operating with high level of service to all standards required; assesses team on a regular basis, communicating any training needs to Executive Director and pertinent departmental leaders
    • Maintains professional relationships with school leaders and Y Center & Association associates within the region and will act as the lead contact for such organizations (except for licensing) on any matters related to Before and After School Enrichment
    • Key leader contributing to the strategic plans of the department; will weigh in on hiring needs as well as development support required to effectively lead and manage a stable team.
    • Cultivates succession planning in each region such that future leaders develop over time. Expands program knowledge base for all associates, stressing the importance of program planning, service excellence and community service.
    • Provides updates to senior leadership team and Before and After School management team on any new trends, news or changes in region; escalates licensure concerns to Licensing Operations director as needed in a timely manner.
    • Attends best practice sharing meetings with other Before and After School leaders across the Y regionally as needed and throughout the industry; joins any required or encouraged professional groups to bring a strong reputation and knowledge base, representing our team as needed in national conferences, training and development opportunities.
    • Investigates opportunities to execute program requirements with our families and associates by using a customer service oriented approach.
    • Assists in the onboarding of all new Program Directors, Site Directors, Teachers and Aides. As needed, provides coaching, practice sessions, required management oriented training direct reports on a quarterly basis.
    • Conducts 1-1s at least every other week with each site director; documents agenda and feedback, collaborates on performance and site improvement plans, strategic hiring
    • Plans effective Site Director meetings and all associate regional meetings as needed; visits each site at least quarterly with the intention of providing feedback, coaching and leadership as needed
    • Partners with Human Resources regarding performance management and by effectively communicating interdepartmental changes, training requirements and ensuring adherence to Y program best practices.   
    • Attends and actively participates in stretch assignments, inter-disciplinary projects as needed; will act as the Before and After School lead for such projects
    • Accountable for ensuring audit compliance for all Before and After School Enrichment licensed sites and associates

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    1. Must be able to carry equipment less than 40 pounds in weight.
    2. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
    3. Ability to drive to areas up to 2 hours from home office.
    4. Physically able to successfully complete required job functions including use of hands, arms, fingers, able to talk and hear, use a computer, sit and stand, regularly move/lift up to 50 pounds, enter all Y environments (office spaces, indoor and outdoor maintenance/mechanical areas, unimproved outdoor locations and other program areas).
    5. Physically able to observe, inspect, and identify appropriate documentation from all visitors to the program
    6. Physically able to recognize and assess individuals and groups in program space.

    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Accountable for the completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, community impact survey results, net promoter scores, safety and quality audits, meeting budgetary requirements and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties and core competencies.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    The Program Director will meet the qualifications set forth by the Y in Central Maryland. Associate shall be of good character and reputation, carry out assigned responsibilities, accept training and supervision and capable of communicating effectively both orally and in writing as applicable to the job responsibility.  Minimum qualifications include:

    • A Bachelors Degree or 5 years direct supervisory experience in a multi-site setting
    • 3-5 years supervisory experience; 5 or more years in licensed child care environment preferred
    • Prior experience operating in a Y youth development program or Y licensed school age program preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to create and develop highly accountable team
    • Multi-site supervision experience (between 4 and 6 sites with up to 50 employees serving 200+students and their families), 3- 5 years management of site leaders may be substituted for multi-site experience
    • Capacity to develop effective working relationships with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual and generational backgrounds
    • Y certifications required to execute functions of the position; New Associate Orientation, 6 hours of child abuse prevention training required
    • Y Program Director experience strongly desired
    • Achieve Team Leader certification through Y in Central Maryland in first 12 months
    • Multi Team leader in first 24 months of role required
    • Maintain all required certifications as mandated by MSDE and other licensing providers
    • Local travel required; frequent site visits
    • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite; use of internet required in online reporting systems for data entry
