Job Description

** Unit Summary:**

The 20-bed Transplant, Hepatobiliary and Vascular Surgery Unit specializes in kidney, liver, intestinal, pancreas transplant, all liver cancer surgeries and all vascular surgeries. NAs on this unit work closely with the interprofessional team for the inpatient and outpatient clinic team to ensure a smooth transition across the plan of care. The unit staff is a good mix of experience with employees of over 10 years and new employees.

** Nurse Assistant Summary:**

As a vital member of our transplant care team, you'll work under the direction of the Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate patient care that makes a real difference in patients' lives during critical moments. You'll be instrumental in supporting patient safety and comfort while collaborating with our interprofessional team to ensure seamless, coordinated care. Your contributions will include:

• Performing essential patient care duties that directly support patient safety, comfort, and dignity
• Partnering with RNs to assist in planning and implementing individualized patient care strategies
• Responding promptly and effectively to emergent situations following established protocols
• Contributing valuable insights and observations to enhance the overall patient care experience
• Actively engaging in continuing education to advance your clinical skills and professional growth
• Embodying the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in every patient interaction and team collaboration

Qualifications

Education/Experience :

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Must meet one of the following required criteria:
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)) but perform the same job role.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
  • At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
  • May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license

Certifications/Licensures :

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license preferred.
• Complete BLS Heartsaver Certification during orientation.
