  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    To provide support to facility nurses through monitoring and coaching of medication pass skills and works in conjunction with the facility Consultant Pharmacist.

    POSITION HOURS:

    Per Diem position, no more than 16 hours per month.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Provide regular on-site monitoring of nurse’s medication pass techniques at assigned facilities.

    Audit facility medication rooms and medication carts for compliance with expiration dates and regulations.

    Provide written report of activities and findings within the facility to the Director of Nursing and Pharmacy.

    Promote on-going communication between the pharmacy and facility in all aspects of pharmacy services.

    Assist in cycle fill exchange process by reviewing medications records, physician orders, and medications in cart, for accuracy.

    Assist in the accurate processing and timely completion of medical records on a monthly basis.

    In-service facility personnel regarding proper medication pass procedures in accordance with Title 22 guidelines.

    Assist in updating policies and procedures

    Submission and transmission of required reports and documentation in a timely manner.

    Investigates any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities reported to Compliance Officer

    Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.

    Participate in the Pharmacy’s Performance Improvement Program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.

    Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.

    Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.

    Performs other duties as required

    Abide by the company Drug Free Workplace policy. Drug screening is conducted at hire, or may be conducted company-wide, or on request upon reasonable suspicion.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    Current Vocational Nurse License in the state of California.

    Previous experience in Long Term Care preferred.

    Friendly, cooperative and team player.

    Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally.

    Independent thinker; problem solving skills.

    Excellent customer service skills, ability to prioritize customer needs.

    Well groomed, professional appearance.
