We are looking for an experienced assistant nurse manager in the Labor and Delivery Department to train new nurses and supervise existing staff. The nurse manager sets the standard of care in a healthcare facility, manages assigned funds for the department, and responds to complaints from patients.

To be successful as a nurse manager you must have patience when training new staff. A good nurse manager can multitask under pressure.

Nurse Manager Responsibilities:

• Hire and train new staff members.
• Supervise staff during shifts.
• Create a budget for the department.
• Respond to patients' complaints or concerns.
• Discipline staff when necessary.

Requirements:

• ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be required for positions in specific departments.
• Evidence of training completion as preceptor or charge nurse.
• Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, & budgeting.
• Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission & other federal, state, & local regulatory requirements.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Qualifications:

• BSN exp in L&D is a must
• Charge or ANM exp preferred
• Registered Nurse License (California)
• Basic Life Support

Experience

• Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience as charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion or other related leadership experience.

Education

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required.
