Overview

An acute care hospital in Dulles, Virginia is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health to lead day-to-day nursing operations within an inpatient behavioral health unit.

This leadership role is responsible for staff oversight, patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced acute care behavioral health environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Behavioral Health Nursing Department

• Lead and support Charge Nurses and House Supervisors to ensure safe, effective care delivery

• Maintain appropriate staffing, scheduling, and productivity aligned with patient acuity

• Promote a culture of patient safety, therapeutic care, and staff accountability

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and hospital policies

• Support staff development, coaching, and performance management

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and unit performance

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and operational planning

Qualifications

Required:

• BSN required

• Active RN license (Virginia or compact state)

• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience as a Nursing Manager, Supervisor, or Clinical Team Lead

• Behavioral Health experience in an acute care setting

• BLS certification (required within 30 days of hire)

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification (required within 30 days of hire)

Preferred:

• Prior experience managing inpatient behavioral health units

• Strong background in staff leadership, safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance
