Nurse Manager - Skilled Nursing Facility | Long Term Care | Penn Yan, NY

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic nursing leadership and oversee daily operations of the skilled nursing unit, ensuring delivery of exceptional patient care and safety standards
- Supervise and manage nursing staff including CNAs, Senior CNAs, LPNs, RNs, CNA Trainees, and Unit Clerks, fostering professional development and teamwork
- Implement quality improvement strategies and interventions to achieve organizational objectives and maintain uncompromising standards in long term care
- Ensure compliance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations, state licensing requirements, and facility policies and procedures
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with residents, families, physicians, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and facility leadership
- Manage departmental resources efficiently to deliver cost-effective, compassionate nursing care while maintaining fiscal responsibility
- Coordinate care across departments through systems that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and seamless care transitions
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of qualified nursing personnel
- Develop and oversee orientation programs, continuing education, credentialing, and professional development initiatives for nursing staff
- Assess departmental needs, develop planned interventions, and evaluate effectiveness of applied strategies
- Manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, meet critical deadlines, and facilitate project management initiatives
- Utilize electronic health record systems and healthcare technology, including Meditech and Microsoft Office suite
- Create a healing environment that exemplifies professionalism, compassionate leadership, and effective communication
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse (RN) program
- Current, active New York State License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse
- Minimum 2 years of recent Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor experience in a Long Term Care (LTC) facility - required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in skilled nursing or long term care setting
- Consistent work history demonstrating reliability and commitment to long term care nursing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to lead diverse healthcare teams effectively
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing management systems, processes, and best practices in long term care
- Analytical skills to assess needs, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and competencies in healthcare management
- Thorough understanding of Department of Health (DOH) requirements and regulatory compliance standards
- Computer literacy with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software
- Ability to provide age-appropriate, population-specific care across the lifespan

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing or supervising a Special Needs Unit in a skilled nursing facility
