Overview
A large tertiary acute care hospital in Dallas, Texas is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager of Critical Care (Medical ICU) to provide clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for a high-acuity adult Medical Intensive Care Unit.
This role is responsible for ensuring exceptional patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, and operational excellence within a complex critical care environment.
Responsibilities
Provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for the Medical ICU
Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing care delivery in alignment with critical care standards and organizational goals
Collaborate with physician leaders and interdisciplinary teams to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency of care
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives within the ICU
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety requirements
Lead staffing, scheduling, productivity management, and staff development
Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on quality outcomes and patient-centered care
Utilize quality metrics, occurrence reporting, and data-driven insights to improve clinical and operational performance
Maintain effective communication with leadership, staff, and clinical partners
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 2 years of recent acute care leadership experience in Critical Care
Preferably 2+ years of ICU leadership experience
Charge Nurse–only experience will not be considered
BSN required
Active Texas RN license or compact RN license
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Preferred:
MSN or higher degree
CCRN and/or CNRN certification
Prior experience in high-acuity or tertiary care ICU settings

Scope of Responsibility
16-bed Medical ICU
Leadership of approximately 45 FTEs
Oversight limited to the Medical ICU
Reports directly to the Director of Critical Care
