    Job Description

    Overview

    A high-volume Emergency Department in the Panama City region is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager of Emergency Services to lead evening-shift operations, staff performance, patient care quality, and departmental workflow.

    This ED features 44 beds , manages 140–180 patients daily , and serves as a primary emergency access point for both adult and pediatric patients. The Nurse Manager oversees approximately 55.8 FTEs , working closely with the Emergency Services Director to ensure efficient operations and engaged, high-performing teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee daily evening-shift operations to ensure safe, high-quality emergency nursing care.

    • Provide hands-on leadership including supervision, coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management.

    • Develop and maintain staffing schedules in collaboration with senior leaders.

    • Ensure compliance with policies, safety protocols, and competency standards.

    • Support onboarding, education, precepting, and ongoing professional development for new staff.

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency clinical practices, equipment, and trends.

    • Ensure timely repair, maintenance, and readiness of ED equipment.

    • Conduct and verify required quality control checks (emergency equipment, temperature logs, etc.).

    • Assist with clinical procedures and direct patient care as needed.

    • Utilize department data, metrics, and performance indicators to drive improvement initiatives.

    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support efficient patient flow and continuity of care.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • 3–5 years of recent ED leadership experience in an acute-care hospital.

    • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma; must be enrolled in a BSN program.

    • Active RN license (Florida or Compact).

    • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

    Preferred:

    • Strong communication, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills.

    • Experience leading high-volume emergency departments.

    • Salary range: $86,000–$116,000/year , based on experience.
