    JOB PURPOSE

    We are seeking a dedicated FNP Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality medical care within our detox and residential facility. In this role, you will be the clinical cornerstone of our patient intake and stabilization process, conducting comprehensive assessments, managing detoxification protocols, and addressing the complex healthcare needs of patients. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in stabilizing patients and fostering a supportive environment for long-term healing. Other duties include providing support and training to other medical staff, attending morning case conferences on your scheduled day of work, and attending staff meetings/training.

    TIME COMMITMENT

    Per Diem role in-person onsite. Accessible for On Call for Day worked.

    COMPENSATION AND PAY STRUCTURE

    Daily rate--compensation to correlate with experience.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Comprehensive Clinical Evaluations: Conduct in-depth psychiatric and medical assessments upon admission to determine medical stability and withdrawal severity.

    Diagnosis & Evidence-Based Treatment: Manage complex substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions utilizing ASAM criteria.

    Pharmacological Management: Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications and Medications for Addiction Treatment, ensuring strict adherence to DEA and federal standards.

    Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with psychiatric providers and clinicians to design and adjust individualized, patient-centered treatment plans.

    Clinical Documentation: Maintain precise, audit ready documentation within the EHR to reflect all interventions and care transitions.

    Crisis Intervention: Lead the medical response for patients experiencing acute psychological distress or high-risk withdrawal symptoms.

    Responsible for assessing new patients and discussing with Physician.

    Evaluate social determinants of health and identify barriers to care.

    Order diagnostic testing, develop and adjust treatment plans, and manage medications.

    Provide health education on disease prevention, medication adherence, lifestyle changes, and self-care strategies.

    Assessment of patient medical needs and necessary follow-up required.

    Orders and evaluates patient medications for compliance and efficacy.

    Follows up with patients regarding recommendations from Treatment Team and/or other providers

    Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Team Leadership: Actively participate in clinical rounds and case reviews to optimize patient outcomes and relapse prevention.

    COMPENTENCIES

    Addiction Medicine Expertise: Proficient in the pharmacology of psychoactive substances and MAT (Buprenorphine, Naltrexone, etc.).

    Clinical Stabilization: Expert ability to diagnose and treat acute intoxication and complex withdrawal syndromes (Alcohol, Opioids, Benzodiazepines).

    Dual-Diagnosis Management: Skilled in treating co-occurring psychiatric disorders and medical conditions common in recovery (e.g., Depression, HIV, Hep C).

    Risk Mitigation: Competent in suicide/relapse risk assessments and utilizing Motivational Interviewing.

    Care Coordination: Strong communicator capable of interpreting diagnostic tests (UDS) and developing post-inpatient relapse prevention plans.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Indoor environment (95%)

    Must wear required PPE and designated attire

    Lift/carry up to 20 lbs frequently; push/pull 21–75 lbs occasionally

    REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

    Licensure: Active and unrestricted New Jersey APRN is required.

    Prescriptive Authority: Valid DEA registration

    Specialization: Board Certification FNP candidates

    Clinical Experience: Prior experience in inpatient substance abuse or acute mental health settings is strongly preferred.

    Technical Proficiency: Previous experience with KIPU is a significant plus.

    Interpersonal Excellence: Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining seamless team communication.
