Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary and urgent care at a federal correctional institution in Cumberland, Maryland. FCI Cumberland is a medium-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp, located approximately 2.5 hours west of Baltimore in western Maryland. You will manage a panel of incarcerated patients, conducting sick call, chronic care, and intake evaluations under physician collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans
- Manage chronic disease clinics
- Perform intake physical examinations
- Prescribe medications per BOP formulary
- Order and interpret lab and diagnostic studies
- Provide urgent care and coordinate transfers
- Document encounters in BOP electronic health record
- Participate in quality assurance and infection control
Required Qualifications
- MSN with NP certification or Master of PA Studies
- National certification (AANP/ANCC or NCCPA)
- Active, unrestricted Maryland license (or ability to obtain)
- Active DEA registration
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to pass federal background investigation

- Correctional healthcare experience
- BOP clinical guidelines familiarity
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $125,000 - $160,000 annually
