    Position Overview

    CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary and urgent care services at a federal metropolitan detention center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. You will function as a mid-level provider managing a panel of incarcerated patients, conducting sick call assessments, chronic care visits, and intake screenings under physician collaboration in a structured correctional healthcare setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct patient assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans within scope of practice
    • Manage chronic disease clinics including diabetes, hypertension, HIV, hepatitis C, and respiratory conditions
    • Perform intake physical examinations and health screening assessments for newly admitted inmates
    • Prescribe medications per BOP formulary guidelines and manage prescription renewals
    • Order and interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and diagnostic tests
    • Provide urgent and emergent care, stabilize patients, and coordinate transfers when indicated
    • Document clinical encounters in the BOP electronic health record system
    • Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and accreditation compliance activities

    Required Qualifications

    • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with NP certification or Master of Physician Assistant Studies
    • National certification (AANP, ANCC for NPs; NCCPA for PAs)
    • Active, unrestricted license in Puerto Rico or any U.S. state
    • Active DEA registration
    • Current BLS and ACLS certification
    • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
    • U.S. citizenship required
    • Ability to pass federal background investigation

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency
    • Correctional healthcare or community health center experience
    • Familiarity with BOP clinical practice guidelines

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Salary: $125,000 - $165,000 annually
