Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director – Obstetrics to provide leadership and operational oversight for designated nursing and patient care services within a hospital setting.
This position works closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for supporting the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice across assigned areas.
The Nursing Director will have 24/7 accountability for assigned departments, ensuring high-quality, safe, patient-centered care while supporting clinical staff competency, operational efficiency, and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight for assigned nursing and patient care services.
Partner with the CNO to ensure safe, high-quality, and appropriate patient care.
Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practices across multiple units.
Maintain 24/7 accountability for assigned areas.
Promote clinical excellence, patient safety, and quality outcomes.
Support staff competency, professional development, and performance.
Effectively manage staffing, resources, and operational needs.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.
Serve as a professional role model and advocate for the nursing discipline.
Identify operational and clinical opportunities and implement appropriate improvements.
Foster effective communication and teamwork across departments.
Ensure compliance with applicable nursing standards, regulations, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a Nurse Manager or Nursing Director in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Mother/Baby and NICU.
AHA BLS certification required.
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage hospital nursing operations and clinical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
Experience in high-acuity patient care environments.
NICU leadership or management experience.
Experience managing complex maternal and neonatal cases.
Experience overseeing multiple nursing units or service lines
