Nursing Director – Psychiatry

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director – Psychiatry to provide clinical and operational leadership for psychiatric nursing and designated patient care services within a hospital environment.
This leadership role works closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice across assigned units.
The Nursing Director will maintain 24/7 accountability for assigned areas, ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate patient care, clinical staff competency, and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership for psychiatric nursing services.
Partner with the CNO to support high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care.
Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practice across assigned psychiatric units.
Maintain 24/7 accountability for assigned departments and patient care areas.
Ensure appropriate staffing, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.
Promote staff competency, professional development, and clinical excellence.
Monitor patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary care teams.
Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
Identify clinical and operational improvement opportunities.
Serve as a professional role model and advocate for the nursing profession.
Foster effective communication and a collaborative working environment.
Required Qualifications
Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of 5 years of Psychiatric Nursing Leadership experience.
Previous nursing management or leadership experience in a hospital environment.
CPR certification required.
Education:
Associate degree in Nursing with a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or BSN required.
Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or a related healthcare discipline required
