POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Cyber Security Engineers are experienced at discovering innovative ways to present logs in a SIEM. They should be able to collaborate with peers, ingest cyber threat intelligence, and create parsers for a wide range of cybersecurity technologies. The parsers that are created will be used in a SIEM to enable the SOC to alert on threats and known IOCs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement parsers from cybersecurity devices into designated SIEMs
- Create, review, edit parsers that currently exist in various SIEM technologies
- Test parsers against a wide range of SIEMs
- Document and manage all parser creation and review activities in a ticketing system
- Report on frequency of parsers created, edited, and reviewed
- Define and develop documentation supporting the parser creation lifecycle
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ideal candidate will have worked with complex network and host security tools
- Ability to parse logs from a wide variety of cybersecurity tools and log sources
- Experience in one or more SIEM products (Splunk, FortiSiem, MS Sentinel, Google Chronical, ArcSight, QRadar)
- Familiarity of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework
- General security knowledge (GIAC, CISSP, CCSE, CISA, HBSS, NSA, CEH, Cisco Security, Security +, or other security certifications).
- Ability to work in demanding, but flexible environment in a mission critical environment with occasionally stressful situations.
- Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems
- Excellent time management, reporting, and communication skills
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING REQUIRED:
- 2-3 years professional experience maintaining industry leading security technologies or infrastructure systems in complex technical IT operations environment
- 2-3 years professional experience working in a technical team environment
- Bachelors degree in CIS/Computer Science or equivalent training with experience working in a Security Operations Center, Managed Security Engineering team, or enterprise security operations/dev client-facing environment
- Vendor-specific certifications and trainings
