MOW YOLO APPROACH
Meals on Wheels Yolo County (MOW Yolo) is seeking a Nutrition Specialist to join our inspired team who will:
Advance the nutritional objectives of the MOW Yolo Strategic Plan, prioritizing food security and socialization so seniors can “Eat Well, Age Well” in Yolo County and beyond
Develop appealing menus (seven current cycle menus) appropriate to the nutritional needs of older adults, including medically-tailored meals (both within and apart from the CalAIM Community Supports program)
Prepare and deliver nutrition education materials and presentations appropriate to a senior audience
Monitor and consult regarding food safety protocols in an institutional meal production facility producing more than 12,000 meals weekly, as well as other food services locations countywide
Engage with program participants
Nurture the experiences of dietetic interns, maximizing benefit to MOW Yolo
Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners alike
Positively represent MOW Yolo both internally and externally
POSITION SUMMARY
The Nutrition Specialist reports to the Executive Director, engaging with nutrition initiatives and ensuring compliance with Older Americans Act and other meal program requirements. Nutritional analysis, menu development, nutrition education, health and safety monitoring, and other programmatic support further MOW Yolo’s mission to nourish and engage seniors in Yolo County.

USUAL WORK SCHEDULE AND LOCATION
Part-time 20-25 hours/week, Monday - Friday. Specific days and hours to be determined in consultation with the supervisor and can be subject to change. Primary work location is the MOW Yolo Administrative office in Woodland.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Nutrition program compliance and reporting
Menu development and nutritional analysis
Participant and program support, inclusive of nutrition education
Health and safety monitoring and consultation
Outreach and stakeholder collaboration
Maintain positive communications with meal recipients, volunteers, external partners, colleagues, and supervisors
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Dietitian or bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, data management, or a related field preferred. Associate’s degree or some college with proof of related coursework will be considered.
1-2 years of experience in nutrition services, program compliance, data reporting, or program support, preferably in a nonprofit or government-funded program.
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, Older Americans Act (OAA) nutrition program requirements, CalAIM medically-tailored meals protocols, and California Retail Food Code (Cal-Code).
Proficient at using and/or learning electronic systems. Comfortable working with Microsoft Office Suite; Google Workspace familiarity is a plus.
Adapt and respond flexibly, creatively, and patiently to a dynamic work environment.
POSITION LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current California Driver’s License
Proof of automobile insurance
ServSafe Food certification (MOW Yolo pays for this training if needed)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$32-$40 per hour, depending upon experience and education (Registered Dietitian is at top of range), payable per the regular payroll schedule and subject to applicable withholding and payroll taxes and other deductions required by law. Part-time employees receive vacation and sick time accrual, 11 paid holidays annually, and may elect to participate in a 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan.
