NUTRITION TECHNICIAN / ASSISTANT COOK
Full-Time (7 Hours Daily)
QUALIFICATIONS: One year cooking experience is preferred but not required. Foodservice experience is required.
REPORTS TO: Cafeteria Manager
JOB GOAL: Works in a safe, sanitary, and time efficient manner to produce quality meals for students and completes duties as assigned by the manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reads and completes all duties assigned on the daily work sheet
Prepares all menu items assigned by manager such as meats, sandwiches, vegetables and sack lunches in a timely and sanitary manner
Knows where all food items are located and how much is prepared before serving
Understands portion sizes to be served for each menu item
Cleans work area and all equipment used before lunch service
Serves meals or backs up the lunch service line as assigned during meal times
Pre-preps breakfast items for the next day’s service as assigned
Assists manager by reporting the amount of food available, makes sure there is enough food throughout lunch service
Sanitizes meal service line as needed during lunch service
Keeps lunch line running smoothly and efficiently during meal service
Assists in dish room as need during lunch service
Breaks down lunch line after service, reports all leftovers and stores properly
Cleans and sanitizes meal service line
Cleans and sanitizes any food preparation areas that remain soiled
Plans ahead for future menus, removing items from freezer for thawing in cooler
Sweeps and mops assigned area of kitchen and serving area
Assists manager and other workers with food storage organization in dry storage room, walk-in and box freezers, and walk-in and reach-in coolers
Assists other workers and manager with laundry duties
Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities as assigned
Checks bathroom daily, maintains soap, toilet paper, and hand towels
Assists in cleaning vents and vent hoods
Performs additional duties as assigned by manager
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift 40 pounds without assistance and on occasion repetitively. Work in a fast paced environment and stand for extended periods of time. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:
