They are a rapidly growing organization with over 500 advisers connecting more than 300K families every year to one of our community customers.

    Responsibilities

    Based in Kansas City, the Director Dev Ops & Site Reliability will work closely with cross-functional product and technology teams to identify and execute high-impact initiatives that achieve revenue goals. This role leads a team of technical and development operations engineers, who are responsible for our enterprise technology platform health and the successful delivery of business initiatives with product and development teams.

They understand the need for low latency, highly available systems to promote a 24/7 business. You love to solve difficult problems, balancing the pressure of time to market with delivering a quality product. You have thrived in a DevOps cloud environment, enabling development teams towards a CI/CD target. You understand the need for constant monitoring and awareness of the technology landscape, having operated a NOC and you know how to deal with issues and incidents in real time – You take security and your customers’ data protection seriously. You have built high performing, loyal teams in the past.

    What you will do:

    • Drive strategic planning, goal setting and project coordination for enterprise technical operations and support initiatives, including prioritizing enterprise projects on 1-3 year roadmaps

    • Ensure that the development team has a stable development environment and a frictionless CI/CD pipeline to Production

    • Management of enterprise technical operations including all cloud-based technologies, Iaas, Saas, IaC, network architecture, and monitoring platforms

    • Build out and manage a NOC

    • Responsible for monitoring our Production environments and reacting to any issues in as expeditious and efficient way as possible.

    • Work very closely with Security to build out and operate a SOC and protect our Production systems and data.

    • Drive enterprise technical operational excellence, including high uptime and availability

    • Management of equipment purchasing, licensing allocation, IaaS and SaaS products, including managing an extensive vendor network

    • Collaborate with the Finance team to lead technology department budgeting and forecasting

    • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management and non-technical leaders

    • Engage with engineers and stakeholders across the company  to solve problems with broad impact (from group-wide to company-wide impact)

    • Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach for projects

    • Management of IT budgets, and P&L

    • Management of resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a strong engineering team discipline

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Competencies:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience

    • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple business priorities while still holding quality paramount

    • 10+ years of industry experience designing, building, and shipping systems

    • 5+ years leadership experience with software development teams

    • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions

    • Ability to adjust gracefully to changing situations, keeping team aligned and focused

    • Has high standards and expects innovation from the team

    • Experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS

    • Thorough understanding of setting up and operating a Dev Ops environment.

    • Experience with system design, architecture and open-source technologies

    • Experience delivering large, cross-functional, projects

    • Excellent ability to communicate requirements, features, status, challenges, risks, etc.

    • Must have the ability to analyze a situation for potential future problems

    • Ability to support a 24x7x365 environment, if needed

    • Working technical understanding of Contact center solutions and operating environments.

    • Experience in a HIPAA environment is an advantage
