  • Responsibilities

    Our client is looking for an experienced visual effects artist to join our growing art team. As a VFX Artist you'll work closely with all departments to create special effects that compliment the experience of our games.

    The project is a rogue-like dungeon crawler featuring a 3rd person shooter, awesome action, and addictive gameplay. It's going to have resource management to keep the gamers engaged with underground missions like Subnautica and combat systems like Gears of War 5 with tank-like battle scenes as a 3rd person shooter.

    The art style is a diesel punk environment with a mix of retrofuture mechs to battle. The game is in mid production with the goal to launch in Q3 of 2022. Therefore, it's an awesome opportunity to influence a new IP that can take the world by storm!

    What are the responsibilities of this position?

    • Create, design and implement real-time particle effects using both static and animating 2D/3D elements

    • Implementation of all work using Unreal and related tools

    • Create particle and decal textures

    • Create simulations for gameplay elements

    • Create materials to support FX needs

    • Create efficient geometry and assign UV’s utilizing Maya or similar 3D authoring packages

    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that FX are implemented appropriately in the game engine

    What are the minimum requirements?

    • Experience building VFX with Unreal Engine 4 including Cascade/Niagara, Materials and Blueprints

    • Working knowledge of authoring tools for real-time particle systems

    • Strong understanding of FX optimization and measuring performance for consoles and PC

    • Keen eye for detail and ability to break down existing effects in games and films

    What are going to earn you brownie points?

    • Experience with Houdini, Embergen or other comparable VFX authoring packages

    • Experience with scripting languages

    • Experience with multiple 2D applications, including Adobe AfterEffects, Photoshop, and similar applications
