Our client is looking for a technical manager to help their engineers thrive in their quickly evolving engineering culture. In partnership with the technical director, you will directly level-up the company by leading the engineering team to excellence through effectiveness in coaching, motivation, and support. You will also strive to ensure the company's production success by boosting effective coordination, communication, and operation of engineers and the rest of the production team.
They have a development studio focused on building collaborative games for a growing, global audience of players who use games as their favorite way to hang out together. Based in Los Angeles, they are venture-backed and built by industry veterans - half of the team comes from gaming powerhouses including Microsoft, Riot Games and the original DotA mod, and half comes from successful indie startups like Sirvo Studios and Industrial Toys.

What are the core responsibilities?
Develop a high performing team of 8+ engineers by building relationships and shepherding their career goals and aspirations
Maintain engineering team health and morale by managing work/life balance and addressing conflicts head on.
Establish mature performance evaluation metrics with clear objectives and actionable feedback
Advise the leadership team on company growth with a long-term engineering staffing strategy
Coordinate engineering resources along with production leads to meet production targets on time
Forecast and advise on potential technical risks to the company's content production schedule
Strategize on processes to improve the company's operational efficiency in technical areas such as DevOps, Release Management, and Business Intelligence
Create visibility by bolstering communication and alignment amongst engineers and key stakeholders
What are the minimum requirements?
8+ years of experience as an engineer or software developer, with at least 4+ years in a lead or management role
Participated in the full production cycle of at least one shipping game title
Well-practiced in employee performance review and dealing with difficult conversations directly. Experience guiding teams through phases of significant company growth or change Outstanding communications skills (verbal and written) and organizational skills
Demonstrated effectiveness at managing, mentoring, and coaching technical developers
