    Who is the Client?

    Our client aims to make the world a safer place by solving big problems and taking on the public safety challenges of our time. In the next few years, they will face the biggest challenges in public safety training head-on, including immersive VR based empathy, coping and de-escalation training to help officers engage with the communities they serve, with greater awareness and safety.

    What is the Role?

    This person will be a part of the team designing, building, and testing prototypes for future public safety oriented XR experiences. You will be a core member of the VR development team, prototyping new experiences and technologies and developing our core shipping products while evangelize the three VR tenets:

    1. Build AR and VR Solutions for Social Good: With our mission to Protect Life, we develop AR/VR solutions that benefit both law enforcement and the community, while addressing key issues in society.

    2. Empower Agencies with Data: Deliver ongoing data and analysis that provide agencies with key insights that enable them to make decisions that result in building better, more efficient, and positive programs.

    3. Develop an Active and Diverse Virtual Platform: Leverage the latest in AR & VR technologies to create a robust portfolio of solutions and the highest-quality content, that enable users to be more effective in their roles and manage the challenges of 21st century public safety.

    What are the responsibilities?

    • Planning, design, and implementation of a next generation game feature that is a part of your current sprint.
    • Creating or modifying the mobile or in-VR UI while working closely with Design.
    • Migrating the code base to a new version of Vive Wave Runtime or a new version of Unity.
    • Writing a script to support the Sound Designer’s vision so they can better implement into the scene.
    • Contributing to or leading the strategy of a new development pipeline.
    • Participate in design, user research, and code reviews with colleagues.
    • Helping an engineering team member troubleshoot an issue with game physics or Hand Tracking.
    • Balancing the time to market with the quality of the effort correctly. Making the right design and execution decisions to deliver proof of concepts and MVPs without risking the wrong things. (Arch decisions, testing decisions, deployment decisions, security decisions, roadmap decisions.)

    Basic Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
    • Deep experience building and shipping customer facing applications in Unity
    • Exceptional 3D math and C# skills
    • Experience collaborating with the 3D art team and implementing 3D art and game assets like animations, meshes, shaders, and materials.
    • Experience profiling and building within XR technical, optimization, render performance and implementation constraints.
    • Experience creating titles on XR platforms like Hololens, Oculus, HTC Vive, or PlayStation VR.
