Controls Engineering Manager
As a key member of our management team reporting to the President, the successful candidate for this leadership role will oversee a team responsible for designing and developing engineering solutions and coordinating projects. You will play a pivotal role in managing departmental operations, ensuring resource allocation efficiency, and achieving project goals within specified timelines and budgets.
What are we looking for?
Management:
- Effectively assigning and managing the workload of controls department personnel, including engineers and drafters.
- Leading recruitment efforts, directing team members, overseeing staff development, and analyzing technology and market demand for strategic resource planning.
Technical Management:
- Spearheading the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of controls design and programming standards.
- Collaborating with the Controls Team, System Engineer, and management to review equipment design specifications.
- Strategically planning control design assignments, directing the preparation of layouts, and actively resolving technical challenges.
Manufacturing Support:
- Providing or coordinating manufacturing support for equipment, in-house testing, and Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Delivering hands-on instruction to shop personnel regarding Electrical Systems equipment specifications.
Design:
- Applying expertise in analyzing engineering sketches, specifications, and data to determine components for mechanical equipment.
- Crafting initial process descriptions and sequence of operation documentation.
Customer Support and Sales Support:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for Controls Engineering, troubleshooting existing equipment challenges, and contributing to upgrades.
- Ensuring the maintenance of technical documentation for the sales department and actively participating in the review of customer proposals.
Qualifications:
- A BSEE in electro-mechanical design engineering.
- A minimum of five years of progressive experience in Controls Engineering, coupled with five years in staff management.
- Demonstrated proficiency in industrial electrical design, PLC programming, HMI software design, industrial networking, MCC hardware/software configuration, and Closed-Loop Servo control.
- A minimum of seven years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for Siemens programming.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2012 and Microsoft Office.
- Robust organizational and time management skills, showcasing a track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.
- Proven self-motivation, leadership, and collaboration skills, coupled with the ability to efficiently manage multiple priorities.
