What is the position all about?
We are actively looking for a mid to senior level Operations Engineer to join our client’s TechOps division. This particular team is at the technical focal point of all things operations. What does that really mean? This team will monitor and administer their Linux and Windows systems. In addition, it’ll manage their system alerts based on standard operating procedures.
This company will support the growth of a company that recently went public.
This role can be 100% remote or onsite in NYC or San Diego.
What are the core responsibilities?
Operating and maintaining applications, servers, and networks.
Monitoring and administering Linux and Windows systems. Taking appropriate actions on system alerts based on standard operating procedure.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to application development and deployment.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues using SQL queries.
Maintenance of technical documentation (Internal Support team), processes and procedures used throughout normal operations.
Development of knowledge and skills in network and system administration.
Participation in 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
What are the minimum requirements for the position?
3+ years Experience with monitoring systems and management tools (ex: Nagios)
Basic understanding of SQL
3+ years Windows/Linux administration skills (IIS and/or Apache configuration)
3+ years Experience working with Virtualization (VMWare)
Familiarity with cloud computing (GCP, AWS)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent social skills
Customer service oriented (inbound)
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong organizational skills to drive resolution from beginning to end
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Previous experience with technical documentation
What’s going to earn you some brownie points?
Experience with Kubernetes \ Kafka
Familiarity with orchestration and containerization solutions (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with scripting languages like Python and Bash
Experience with automation/configuration management including Ansible, Jenkins
