    **Job Description: Estimator (Commercial Department)**

    **Position Summary:**

     

    As an Estimator, you will work closely with project management to interpret customer specifications and drawings, translating them into comprehensive bills of material and accurate cost estimates. Your role will involve collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, conducting risk assessments, and contributing to the development of project proposals. From implementation to closeout, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the success of our projects.

     

    **Key Responsibilities:**

     

    \- Adhere to established procedures and policies to develop timely and accurate estimates.

    \- Analyze project plans, specifications, and documents to assess scope and mitigate risks.

    \- Conduct material take-offs and analyze vendor/subcontractor quotes for accuracy.

    \- Maintain estimating databases, software, and tools to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

    \- Participate in project meetings, reviews, and walk-throughs to understand agreements and scope.

    \- Organize project documents, quotes, and estimates according to department procedures.

    \- Collaborate with preconstruction and project management teams to identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.

    \- Foster open communication and mutual respect within the team and with external stakeholders.

     

    **Requirements:**

     

    \- Minimum of a two-year degree in Mechanical or CAD Drafting, or equivalent commercial construction experience.

    \- Preferred: At least one year of estimating experience.

    \- Basic understanding or willingness to learn about commercial mechanical systems, equipment, and techniques.

    \- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and a willingness to learn estimating software.

    \- Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.

    \- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently.

    **Physical Demands/Work Environment:**

     

    \- Primarily a stationary position with occasional movement within the office.

    \- Regular operation of office equipment including computers, calculators, and printers.

    \- Occasional travel to project sites or other APi Group company locations.

    \- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

    \- Must adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements in certain environments.
