    Job Description

    SCOPE & IMPACT:

    This Co-Op position is tasked with working in a team environment to develop innovative and aesthetically pleasing concept designs supporting a specific brand position. It requires building a keen understanding of specific brand tenets and the ability to visually conceptualize aesthetic, ergonomic and innovative solutions for that brand. The work you generate will be used to gain new business and support existing business for O-I.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

    The position reports to the Group Leader, Innovation and Product Design North America.

    DURING THE CO-OP, YOU’LL:

    • Be exposed to all phases of the new product development process while working on design projects. Specifics include:
      • Competitive product research
      • Brainstorming / ideation
      • Concept sketching / concept development
      • Sketch renderings
      • CAD modeling
      • KeyShot rendering
      • Graphic design, tailoring product branding to support emotion of the structure
      • Presentation development
      • Human factors research
      • Usability testing
    • Gain valuable experience, working closely with our New Product Development, Sales, Engineering, Quality and Production functions.  
    • Be part of a team responsible for real projects for real customers with real deliverables and deadlines

    THE INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CO-OP SHOULD HAVE:

    • Excellent sketching and ideation skills
    • Exceptional design, presentation, and communication skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Eagerness to learn
    • Interest in the challenge of creating innovative glass packaging solutions
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments to meet objectives.
    • High level of motivation and ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Industrial Design with a strong GPA
    • Targeted graduation date range: December 2023 through December 2025
    • Experience using 2D and 3D design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Alias Design, Sketchbook Pro, KeyShot, and WACOM tablet) preferred
    • A portfolio showing us the skills required to perform the job function. This should include examples from school, work or extra-curricular activities
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. (O-I does not sponsor working visas for internships or co-ops)
