    Job Description

    As a PLANT FOREHEARTH SPECIALIST you will be accountable for the overall operations and Maintenance of the forehearths to deliver quality glass to the IS Machine, supervising the feeder personnel responsible for the day to day activities required to maintain the plants forehearths, glass conditioning and glass job change set up. This includes all requirements from the refiner, alcove, forehearth, conditioning zone, feeder and delivery management.

    The FOREHEARTH SPECIALIST will be responsible to the ongoing management of the forehearth for operations and maintenance requirements defined in GMF as a minimum while managing the feeder personnel on the day to day activities to maintain quality glass and the associated changes needed for job changes. It is critical for this the Forehearth Specialist to stay connected both internally with the Line and Job change leads understanding the needs and external with the Forehearth network to continually advance the forehearth discipline.

    THE PLANT FOREHEARTH SPECIALIST WILL: Lead all aspects of EH&S improvement processes as defined by the company related to forehearth assists and operations. This includes, but not limited to risk assessments, Walk and Talks, hazard identifications, safety training and accident investigation

    • Manage all aspects of the forehearth operations to ensure optimal glass conditioning at all times utilizing the GMF disciplines and staying connected to both your direct Manager and Line leaders on status and activities to drive performance
    • Maximize resource utilization of the feeder personnel to both maintain the forehearth operations and lead the necessary changes required based on the specific job set up during the job change process glass and gob delivery
    • Lead the forehearth maintenance program on all forehearths as defined in GMF with all tools made available for the feeder personnel to execute in accordance with the established schedule
    • Play an active role as the Plant Network Leader (PNL) in the regional and Global Forehearth Network keeping up to date on new developments and connecting with other PNLs to leverage the Forehearth knowledge available
    • Management of the refractory requirements to maximize operational life in accordance with the replacement schedule and ensuring adequate spares stored in the correct conditions to avoid contamination.
    • Active participation in the relevant plant meetings as defined by leadership. This includes job on/off, pre and post job change, maintenance and associated meetings to drive factory performance
    • Ongoing visibility and cost center management of all costs associated to forehearth operation

    THE PLANT FOREHEARTH SPECIALIST SHOULD HAVE:

    • High School Diploma, post secondary education with strong analytical skills preferred
    • Excellent problem solving skills
