    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    • We are looking for a Customs Brokerage Import Documentation Clerk who will be responsible for obtaining documents and creating physical files.
    • The ideal candidate should have a passion for the freight forwarding and logistics industry. OEC Group is looking for an entry level candidate with goals to advance within the Customs Brokerage department to further develop their career.
    • OEC Group’s Customs Brokerage Department is responsible for the timely submission of entries to U.S. Customs in order for freight to be released.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    Duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

    • Stores files, or enters information into ICHB and FreightStream with appropriate file number, brief information, voyage information and shipment date.
    • Requests commercial documents and uploads commercial documents into FreightStream.
    • Coordinates with Entry Writers and Brokerage Manager on files as needed.
    • Searches for and investigates information contained in files, inserts additional data on file records, completes reports, and keeps files current.
    • Handles data entry and documentation.
    • Manages daily tracing report.
    • Implements changes to the filing system when directed to do so.
    • Reviews documents to check for accuracy, including; piece count, the invoice matches the provided packing list and to ensure that they comply with the necessary customs regulations.

    WORK SCHEDULE

    New York Office 9:00 am – 6:00 pm EST (Rotational overtime on Sundays).

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     • Looking for analytical candidates with good follow up abilities, strong organization and email communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Experience conducting research and data management is a plus.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Associate's degree or six months to one year of related experience. Preferably with an educational background or interest in International Business, Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain or Economics.
    • Experience dealing with a high volume of data entry.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
