  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    Performs a wide range of analytical tasks related to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical power distribution facilities. Projects include design of distribution facilities (serving residential, commercial and small industrial customers), relocation of existing distribution facilities, distribution system improvements such as minor expansions, conversions, and rebuilds.

    Primary Duties:

    • Creates work orders, job sketches, material lists, cost estimates, and updates GIS system for new jobs, property damage, and correction of errors to facilities.
    • Assists in staking and assessment duties.
    • Applies Engineering Guides, Construction Standards, National Electric Safety Code, NBIC and ASME.
    • Responds to internal and external inquiries regarding information needed for projects.

    Requirements:

    • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology, Math, Physics or other related technical degree; or completion of sixty (60) hours equivalent college course work toward a technical degree; or Three (3) years Engineering Technician Associate level work.
    • Completion of six (6) hours of Algebra/Trigonometry/Calculus and six (6) hours of Electrical/Electronics/Physics college course work.
    • Valid State Driver's License.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • IIF (Incident and Injury Free) partner.
    • Knowledge of Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
    • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
    • Organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
    • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Strong math aptitude.
    • Computer skills with ability to use application software (e.g., ArcFM Designer, SAP and MS Office Suite).
    • Ability to add capabilities and skills.

    Working Conditions:

    • Office environment requiring extensive computer work.
    • Outdoor environment requiring ability to traverse rough terrain, exposure to hazardous conditions, work in extreme/inclement weather, and wearing of PPE.
    • Required to work overtime, non-standard hours, weekends, and holidays.
    • Required to be available for call-outs and respond to storm damage.
    • Required to travel including overnight.

    • Pushing up to 72 pounds of force.
    • Pulling up to 72 pounds of force.
    • Prolonged walking with various surfaces.
    • Prolonged standing on various surfaces.
    • Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
