Summary of Position
Joining our team as a MIG Welder I entails fabricating and repairing steel parts using specialized gas metal arc welding techniques and equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Apply appropriate welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the most suitable welding process.
- Conduct inspections on completed welds to ensure structural soundness.
- Comply with all safety requirements and protocols.
- Prepare materials and set up welding devices or robots, if required.
- Complete apprenticeship and/or formal training in the specialized field.
- Adhere to safety and quality programs by following established processes and rules.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and cranes.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.
- Utilize various hand tools, such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, and banders.
- Use measuring tools, including tape measures, box calipers, slide dial calipers, and micrometers.
- Proficient in using a torch.
- Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.
- Convert metric measurements to English units.
- Deliver high-quality work to internal and external customers.
- Capable of setting up and operating processing machines.
- Tack weld or weld components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
- Effectively communicate in spoken and written English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass a MIG welder certification.
- Preferred: Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training.
