    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Engineering Technician will build and assemble a variety of jigs, fixtures, and related tooling in support of plant production.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assists the Manufacturing Engineer with developing, managing, and implementing projects as needed.
    • Assists and directs others on the team to meet project specifications.
    • Builds and assembles fixtures and other plant related items.
    • Determines methods and sequences of building fixtures.
    • Designs and creates jigs, fixtures, and holding devices.
    • Assists engineers in maintaining tool crib.
    • Maintains engineering/fixture building area, including but is not limited to cleaning, PM equipment, and keeping the area organized.
    • Ensures fixtures function appropriately per design/prints.
    • Trains production on how to use and install fixtures.
    • Inspects fixtures for accuracy with the help of the quality department.
    • Assists with other projects assigned from manufacturing engineers or management team.
    • Assists in the analysis of space requirements, preparation of layouts for new equipment and projects, and evaluation of flow of materials to improve operating efficiency and reduction of errors.
    • Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of the position.
    • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, handle special projects, perform clerical tasks, and assist in other departments including Quality Assurance and Production.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or equivalent required. 2 or 4 year degree preferred.
    • Five years of manufacturing experience required. Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Welding experience required. Welding certification preferred.
    • 1 - 3 years of fixture building experience preferred.
    • Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
    • Strong math and problem solving skills with the use of geometry and trigonometry.
    • Able to read and use common measuring devices.
    • Able to read and understand prints and drawings.
    • Able to work in a high-paced, manufacturing environment.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Speak conversational English.
