    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This role will be responsible for implementing the new 3-5-year strategic plan for their food safety initiatives. They will be the subject matter expert on HAACP, Food Safety Plans and FSMA, and other areas of food safety such as food fraud and intentional adulteration. They will support primarily the 14 plants, both in the US and overseas, as well as internal customers of R&D, Engineering and other cross functional groups. They will drive continuous improvement projects. Some travel (25%) to the manufacturing plants to implement and train new policies and procedures.

    Responsible and accountable for all aspects of a food safety program including the determination of product requirements, facilitation of program planning, tracking program costs and schedules, updates and other communications to the program team and other stakeholders, and ensuring that the delivered product meets the customer's expectations for quality and functionality.Analyze complex problems and identify areas of risk. mitigate program and execution risks through early risk assessments and implementation of mitigation strategies.Responsible for ensuring completion of documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with business standards.Lead and act as a trusted advisor. Balance bottom line objectives with long-term interests of the customer.Understand and comply with applicable EHS policies, procedures, rules and regulations.Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the Quality System.

     

    ACCOUNTABILITY/SCOPE:

    Works without appreciable direction exercises considerable latitude in determining project / program objectives. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results. Develops a set of viable alternatives for management. Relates risk and gain to critical success factors and recommends actions. Makes decisions, recommendations and sets meeting project / program expectations to achieve critical organizational objectives and business needs. Drives functional performance to ensure that cross-functional standards and expectations are met. Responsible for achieving the project / program's financial targets in support of the business objectives. Controls budget to meet authorized funding, as agreed to by management.

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

    Bachelor's degree in Food Science or equivalent. An advanced degree (such as a master’s or MBA) is preferred. Post-graduate education may contribute toward the desired years of experience.

    Prefer 8+ years of experience in a complex, technical program / project management role, either in the plant in a quality role or in a corporate role.

    Skilled in effective leadership, planning, analysis and communication.

    Strong decision-making and problem-solving skill.

    Demonstrated good judgment; - ability to be creative in achieving objectives while assuring compliance to internal and external requirements.

    Working knowledge of new product development methodologies; - ability to utilize commonly accepted project management tools to assist in the development of and adherence to a schedule.

    Ability or aptitude to work on problems that are complex in scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.

    Ability to form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships; display socially and professionally appropriate behavior.

    Ability to work independently and in groups; ability to work cross-functionally.

    Ability and aptitude to use various types of databases and other computer software.

    Ability to prioritize.
