    Position Summary: Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager, OR Housekeeping assists in the provision of nursing care in the Operating Room. The OR Housekeeping assists in the procurement and organization of department inventory and the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. The OR Housekeeping is responsible for the cleanliness of the operating rooms. This is a full time position for terminal cleaning the operating rooms after all surgical procedures are complete.

    Responsibilities:

    · Assignment of nursing care based on patient assessment by the RN responsible for providing direct patient care.

    · Maintain a clean and safe environment for entire perioperative area

    · Assists the RN in the safe transfer of the patient from the OR table, from surgery stretcher, to any other appropriate patient conveyance. Assists the RN in safe transfer of the patient within room during patient care.

    · Assist in the positioning of surgical patients under the direct supervision of entire surgical team

    · Assist with inventory-stocking needed supplies.

    · Organization and time management without direct order.

    · Preparation of the surgical environment and performs terminal cleaning at the completion of daily surgical schedule

    · Cleaning of the OR suite per Policy and Procedure.

    · Organizes and receives supplies, assists in maintenance of inventory.

    · Maintains clean storage facilities.

    · Receives and exchanges waste and laundry.

    · Distributes supplies and clean laundry as needed.

    · Confidentiality – Maintains confidential all observed or acquired information regarding all patients, their surgical procedure and their perioperative experience.

    Qualifications:

    High school graduate preferred.

    CPR certification

    Reflects maturity and confidence in communication skills.

    Dependable adherence to work schedule.

    Medical-related work experience preferred.

    Physical Requirements: The Nursing Assistant must be able to engage in physical activity on a daily basis.

    Hepatitis immunization (provided at no cost to the Employee) or documented refusal to be vaccinated.

    Evidence of negative Mantoux or chest x-ray annually (test will be provided at no cost to the Employee).

    Able to lift a minimum of 20# of surgical instrument pans or equipment.

    Requires standing, walking and running.

    Physically able to perform CPR.
