Our mechanical adjustable speed transmission technology can improve the efficiency and output of a variety of rotating machines, including pumps, compressors, heavy duty engines and vehicles. With more than 50 patents and proven technological leadership, Orbital Traction is working on expanding our presence in a variety of markets.

    Job Role

    We are looking for a proactive and energetic Automotive Transmission Technician to join our team. Your responsibilities will be to build and test prototypes and prepare equipment to support the operation of Orbital's technology. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and experience in assembly, repair and troubleshooting of transmissions as well as experience in operating specialty test equipment and industrial controls.

    Job Duties (including but not limited to):

    Working with the engineering team to assemble and test both current generation and next generation equipment.

    Participate with engineering team to develop and execute lab-based qualification testing.

    Design and build fixtures and test equipment to support the testing of Orbital’s products.

    Troubleshoot transmissions and other electromechanical assemblies.

    Prepare technical reports including inspection reports and data analysis.

    Complete documentation of repair / testing / assembly activities - cause of failure, actions taken, parts used, labor hours, etc.

    Conduct failure analyses and root cause identification; in cooperation with mechanical, electrical and software engineering teams.

    Diligently complete timesheets, site visit reports and all other documentation in a timely manner and in line with Orbital's internal procedures.

    Participate in design reviews and provide key design-for-reliability inputs to mitigate risks before first prototypes are built.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    5-8 years of experience working with automotive or heavy truck transmissions and similar products.

    Experience in diagnostic and repair activities.

    Experience in building and maintaining mechanical systems.

    Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

    Effective communication skills and the ability to establish good customer rapport are essential.

    Essential Functions and Physical Requirements:

    Ability to safely lift 50 pounds with assistance on occasion.

    Ability to safely lift and carry 25-30 pounds continuously throughout the day.

    Ability to bend, squat, stretch, and reach on a daily basis in a service function.

    Maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

    Your profile

    Certified training for automotive transmission systems

    5+ years relevant experience in Automotive Transmission Manufacturing or Service
