    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position is predominantly remote, but with expectation to meet in our EF headquarters in Irvington, New York once or twice a month to attend key meetings.

    The Junior Copywriter plays a key role in supporting the Writing and Web teams. This position will assist our E-Commerce Copywriter in crafting product descriptions for the website that are consistent with our brand voice and convey our design philosophy. In a space where the customer can’t touch or try on the clothes, product descriptions are a first point of contact and provide essential information about our style, fit, fabric and commitment to responsible design.

    In addition to product copy, ongoing responsibilities include writing SEO and other e-commerce copy, assisting the writing team in managing web content and pitching and executing journal articles.

    SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support e-commerce copywriter in writing product names and descriptions for approximately 50-100 items of clothing, shoes and accessories on a monthly basis. • Ensure consistency of style and tone for product descriptions. • Research product information in digital product management system. • Crosscheck product descriptions with photographed samples in order to catch discrepancies before styles go live. • Connect with the design team as needed to research product and fact-check styles. • Prepare customer service notes to address any product discrepancies. • Write and update copy for non-product (FAQ, Ask Us, Shipping Policies, etc.) sections of site as needed. • Prep website product list and adjust style names as needed referencing line sheets. • Route all web copy for team feedback and proofreading/copy edit. • Help oversee master web copy document. Revise and post updates on an ongoing basis. • Send reviewed/approved copy to Copyeditor. • Submit copyedited product descriptions to Web Content Team. • Assist the writing team in gathering information from key partners and providing research for projects as needed. • Assist Brand Writer and Associate Director by inputting monthly email subject lines into management tool. • Assist Brand Writer and Associate Director in QA’ing monthly web copy and logging tickets and errors with web team as needed. • Help pitch ideas for the journal and write articles that communicate our unique brand values and design philosophy.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree (In English, Journalism, Fashion Design or related field preferred)

     

    Our ideal candidate has a way with words and a talent for conveying information in a clear, concise way. We’re looking for someone who is eager to develop their writing skills and step into a career in the apparel industry. An interest in sustainability and the EILEEN FISHER brand is preferred.

    • Entry level position: 0-2 years copywriting experience in ecommerce.

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

    • Aptitude for language in general, ability to understand and execute the EILEEN FISHER brand voice in balance with technical needs. • Strong understanding of grammar and syntax, as well as excellent proofing skills. • Ability to write short and long form prose. • Ability to receive and learn from constructive copywriting feedback. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Excellent attention to detail. • Adept at learning new technologies, tools and processes. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; self-starter who can see a project through to the end. • Strong textual and visual storytelling abilities. • Aptitude for visual and design thinking.

     

    The hiring salary range for this role is $50- 60k/yr. dependent upon experience and qualifications. In addition, we offer competitive benefits including a generous clothing allowance and a wellness reimbursement program.
