    MEMBER SERVICES EVENING SUPERVISOR - MIT (CAMBRIDGE, MA)

    Full-Time role, Monday-Friday, $500 sign-on bonus!

     

    MIT Recreation, managed by HealthFitness, is looking for a MEMBER SERVICES EVENING SUPERVISOR to join the team in Cambridge, MA. In this position, you will serve as a Manager on Duty for Member Services and as an initial Point of Contact for MIT’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) at the Alumni Pool and Wang Fitness Center. While on duty, you will supervise part-time staff and communicate operational updates to the Assistant Director of Member Services. You will also be crossed trained to work all frontline desk positions and within Aquatics. Weekday hours: 1:30-9:30PM.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    • Facilities management while serving as the lead front line Member Services associate at MIT’s Alumni Pool and Wang Fitness Center.
    • Communicating with patrons, processing membership and program transactions, troubleshooting incidents and injuries, managing towel service and enforcing facility access policies. Responding to membership questions via email.
    • Assisting the Assistant Director of Member Services with MIT Recreation membership reactivations, cancelations, upgrades, and downgrades.
    • Documenting and submitting facility work requests and communicating with MIT’s Dept. of Facilities on work order status.
    • Tracking of proshop inventory and assisting with locker cleanout and inventory as needed.

     

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Fitness, Business, or a related discipline.
    • 1+ year of related industry or customer service experience.
    • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others and prioritize work demands.
    • Proven skills to work effectively both independently and as part of team with enthusiasm and initiative.
    • Ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification within 90 days of hire (will train on-site).
    • Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days.

  • Qualifications

    Required Skills:

    • At least two years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
    • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and critical control points, lean manufacturing and other food safety, quality and manufacturing principles.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with employees at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to work with employees at all levels and to motivate direct reports; specifically mentoring and coaching individuals and identifying short- and long-term development needs and providing appropriate support.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time using effective organizational skills and judgment in an environment of frequently changing circumstances.
    • Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of applications; specifically using Word to create and modify documents, Excel to record data and calculate results, and Outlook to communicate internally and externally
    • Four year college degree in business management, production operations management, agricultural science, food science or equivalent communication and analytical ability acquired through work experience.
    • Work is generally performed within a manufacturing environment subjected to temperatures of cold and warm along with wearing the proper PPE, with standard office equipment available along with plant manufacturing environment.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or finger, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or controls; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision to a computer screen.
