    PATH is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Communication Advisor to lead the communications and engagement functions at the Ethiopia Country Office. The communications and engagement Senior Communication Advisor will report to the Country Director and be part of the PATH External Affairs Division in the Africa Region.

     

    PATH works to accelerate health equity by bringing together public institutions, businesses, social enterprises, and investors to solve the most pressing health challenges. PATH implements innovative, sustainable health solutions that align with the country’s needs and priorities, empowering millions to transform their own health. Since 2007, PATH has collaborated with Ethiopia’s Federal Ministry of Health, community groups, and other partners to strengthen the country’s public health systems and address the most pressing health threats. We implement high-impact, evidence-based, sustainable programs to support those most at risk.

     

    Reporting to the Country Director, the Senior Communications Advisor will be responsible for building the visibility of PATH and its projects, managing the organization’s reputation, and developing and driving communications towards promoting the PATH’s brand among target audiences in Ethiopia, the Africa region, and beyond. The Senior Communication Advisor will lead the co-creation of countrywide (and program-specific) communications and engagement plans and their implementation to engage audiences who support PATH’s mission and business goals in Ethiopia.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Develop, implement (and measure) PATH Ethiopia countrywide and program-specific communication and stakeholder engagement strategies,
    • Document and coordinate the dissemination (through conventional and new media) of user-friendly project information, success stories, photographs, and achievements to target audiences and relevant stakeholders,
    • Lead the development, editing, formatting, creative design, production, updating, and dissemination of high-quality audience-driven communication, engagement, and business development collaterals (such as newsletters, the country webpage, a country profile, brochures, flyers, ads, multi-media) to support internal and external communication and engagement needs,
    • Ensure that all external communications products and activities are in-line with PATH’s brand and projects communications policies; review content to ensure it is on-brand, consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice, and in compliance with donor branding and marking requirements, e.g., USAID.,
    • Build a database and maintain strong relationships with PATH Ethiopia stakeholders—Ethiopia government, donors, public and private partners, the civil society, etc.,
    • Lead the spokesperson initiative and strengthen PATH Ethiopia leaders and staff and equip them with tools, skills, competence, and confidence to play the PATH brand ambassador role,
    • Oversee public events management, media (and social media) outreach, and stakeholder engagement,
    • Support philanthropy and business development initiatives,
    • Find new and innovative avenues to communicate PATH’s message,
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Master’s Degree or any advanced degree in communication, journalism, or any other related fields
    • More than 10 years of experience working in marketing, communications in public health, international development, or a related field.
    • Experience working with USAID-funded projects will be an asset
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and successfully executing audience-focused communications and stakeholder engagement strategies,
    • Excellent writing and editing skills (in English) and a demonstrated capacity to translate sophisticated health and development issues into compelling, persuasive pieces in user-friendly language.
    • Experience in media (print, online, TV, radio) outreach, developing multimedia and online communications, including social media, websites, knowledge management, storytelling platforms, etc.
    • Solid skills in Microsoft Office—Word, PowerPoint, Excel— and a working understanding of graphic design software,
    • Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, demonstrating a client-centered approach to opportunities.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Experience working in an international context and communicating and working across time zones. 
    • Experience providing communications training and capacity building for colleagues,
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
    • Adapt to working in a team and multi-stakeholder environment.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
