    HealthFitness has an exciting opportunity for a part time (20 hpw) PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT at our client site located in EAST HANOVER, NJ. This is a great position for a Physical Therapist Assistant looking for a challenging, innovative position in which they may utilize their creativity, skills, experience and expertise in orthopedics, injury prevention, and wellness at the worksite.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Documentation needs to be complete, accurate, and done on a timely basis, and with HIPAA and PHI contents consistent with QA standards and insurance needs.
    • Prepares treatment area and equipment ensuring patient dignity, personal care, and security.
    • Assists licensed Physical therapist in performing objective tests and functional assessment on patients.
    • Administers the plan of care; therapeutic exercise, Physical agents, mobilizations, and massage as indicated by the Physical therapist’s plan of care.
    • Instructs and assists patient to perform activities of daily living, ambulatory activities, use of assistive/supportive devices, and patient/family in home program.
    • Assumes responsibilities for patient safety.
    • Attends and participates in staff meetings, departmental in-services; both planning and delivery.
    • Exhibits leadership qualities, serving as a resource for peers and patients.
    • Organizes daily work schedule to maintain optimal patient care and notify appropriate personnel where additional help is needed; utilizes off-peak time for program and self-development.
    • Exhibits excellent customer relations with patients and their family, peers, referral sources, and payers.
    • Shows awareness of patient’s emotional and psychological needs.
    • Conducts treatment and associated activities with respect for patient privacy and rights.
    • Maintains confidentiality of patient information, records and conversations.
    • Conducts work practices with respect for co-workers, patients and their families, and colleagues.
    • Utilizes levels of approval as appropriate.
    • Maintains current professional CPR and First Aid credentials
    • Assumes department responsibilities when under general supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
    • Assists in routine maintenance duties around the clinic, to keep the area clean, safe, and professional looking.
    • Assists receptionist in phone answering, patient registration, scheduling, occasional laundry or folding towels and other general receptionist duties as requested.
    • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate’s degree or higher in PTA from an accredited program is required.
    • First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days of hire.
    • Experience in assisting with assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, worker’s comp, ergonomics, workstation evaluations, and exercise and fitness is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
    • Ability to communicate well with their team.
    • Proven ability to build rapport and establish relationships remotely and in person.
    • Strong presentation skills and professionalism.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
    • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Will be required to follow any current or future site COVID-19 vaccination policies including but not limited to proof of vaccination, weekly testing, etc.
