    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for determining and implementing cost accounting procedures and methods.  Generates costing analysis reports on current and proposed products for customer pricing recommendations.  Manages and maintains the Fort Atkinson enterprise resource program (SAP) recipe data base.  

    MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Determine and implement cost accounting procedures and methods to achieve accurate costing data for use in sales, planning and operations.
    • Conduct routine and ad hoc analysis of all phases of costing activities which includes, but is not limited to, new product development, ongoing production costs, customer prices and billing. Investigate and resolve discrepancies which may include changes to recipes, system standards, customer pricing or invoicing.

    • Maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly pricing files and upload information to the enterprise resource program (SAP) as necessary. Distribute pricing data to appropriate individuals and customers.

    • Maintain product recipes in SAP, generate and assign system product numbers, maintain standards, approve all costing runs, prepare monthly financial accruals, and prepare and process journal entries.

    • Prepare the sales and cost of sales portion of the facility budget once volumes have been determined to ensure that the margin on meat and ingredients is similar to that in product pricing and that direct costs are in line with current processes.

    • Assist with year-end inventory and work with auditors by verifying counts as necessary, directing staff on how and where to code inventory items and investigating unusual inventory activity and quantities. Is primary person for preparing and presenting sales information and shipping cutoff testing to auditors.

    • Prepare monthly analyses and management reports to track actual meat and ingredient costs compared to pricing and adjust subsequent pricing to manage these amounts.

    • Lead and direct the cost accounting staff to include work flow, work quality, individual performance, hiring, training, discipline, and termination recommendation.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    Required Skills

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
    • At least three years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience supervising para-professional or clerical staff.
    • Experience working in SAP or similar enterprise resource program.
