    TITLE: ACTING PARTNERSHIPS LEAD, DIGITAL SQUARE – TERM-LIMITED (10771)

     

    TERM: AUGUST 2020 - APRIL 2021, WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION

     

    JOB LOCATION: SEATTLE OR WASHINGTON DC

     

    DIVISION: CENTER OF DIGITAL AND DATA EXCELLENCE (CODE)

    The Acting Partnerships Lead will drive or support much of Digital Square’s positioning, business development, advocacy, research, communications, and evidence-generation activities. He or she will need to ensure donor coordination, partner alignment, and staff direction during the implementation of these activities.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    The primary responsibility (70%) of this position will be to lead day-to-day management of alignment and co-investment initiatives in the Digital Square portfolio. Activities include:

     

    • Oversee new business development for the initiative: Serve as the Responsible party and lead a proposal team for an anticipated 3-4 proposals in the September-December timeframe
    • Closely coordinate all new business development interventions with other result area leads and the operation’s team to ensure cohesion and holistic approach.
    • Write sections of donor reports, concept papers, promotional materials related to “Alignment and Coordination” portfolio.
    • Work closely with the Communications team to ensure timely and high-quality donor deliverables, such as success stories, promotional materials and reports
    • Directly manage 10-12 donor relationships and support CoDE and Digital Square leadership in 2-3 hours per week of positioning calls
    • Provide management and oversight over Digital Square’s “Alignment and Coordination” portfolio of activities, including digital health market analytics, and managing funder and normative agency partnerships
    • Manage donor engagement in 2-3 multi-investor initiatives (e.g. Digital Square COVID coordination)
    • Adapt strategies for securing the financing necessary to achieve Digital Square’s vision, at both the sector level and for the initiative, based on fall 2021 trends and evolutions in donor discussions
    • Support the Digital Square leadership team with the creation and implementation of our long-term business model, as well as the staffing plan for Alignment & Co-Investment initiatives:  staff LOE, overall scope, deliverables timeline and coordination with overall cooperative agreement and reporting requirements
    • Managing a team of 2-3 direct reports and 2-3 dotted line reports
    • Support and provide development feedback to Digital Square staff serving as technical representatives and advocates for PATH/Digital Square at conferences, meetings, and other forums
    • Support CoDE and Digital Square leadership in building meaningful and lasting relationships with key funders and influencers in the digital health sector and beyond; establish a foundation of trust through those relationships
    • Provide technical assistance and mentoring to Digital Square staff so that they better understand and are better able to meet Digital Square as well as PATH standards and expectations
    • Refine and implement the advocacy strategy to encourage global private- and public-sector and multilateral leaders to align with and expand investments for country-owned deployments of digital health global goods
    • Support cross-country relationships and global goods use by fostering conversations and connections between donors, countries and global goods suppliers; connect country stakeholders to capacity-building networks in the Digital Square eco-system

     

    The Partnerships Lead will also support other related (30%) Digital Square activities, including:

     

    • Support Digital Square’s overall strategy for engaging and supporting Digital Square current and potential investors as well as Board members
    • Support the continued expansion and management of Digital Square as a virtual, connected and geographically diverse team
    • Contribute to and review technical approaches for global goods and country & regional system implementations

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years’ of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Credible, articulate, demonstrated expertise in the following:

    • Demonstrated thought leadership in (1) introduction and scaling of digital technology in low and middle income countries and (2) application of digital technology to strengthen health systems and services
    • Demonstrated experience with securing resources from foundations, multi-lateral/bi-lateral donors and the private sector, with a preference for digital health projects.
    • Experience developing, executing and continuously adapting strategy for a non-profit
    • Openness to new ideas and the ability to creatively grow those into fully formed proposals, implementation, and sustainability.
    • Demonstrated track record of writing and managing winning proposals
    • A passion to represent the initiative and the organization publicly; to create and maintain effective working relationships with high-level government personnel and partners from a variety of sectors.
    • The ability to represent and communicate an idea, a project, or an organization in any medium and to a variety of audiences, including blog posts, email, team meetings, speaking engagements, and pitch meetings, to name a few.
    • Experience managing and leading a diverse team of geographically distributed employees with multiple perspectives (think global coalitions, associations, or working groups) to set strategies and execute them successfully.
    • Experience managing a large pool of contractors through a changing donor landscape and evolving global priorities.
    • Willingness and ability to travel globally at least 25% of the time.

     

    Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
