LOCATION:  915 OLENTANGY RIVER RD. - OSU EYE & EAR INSTITUTE                  THIS POSITION ENTAILS ABOUT 10+ HOURS A WEEK. 

PURPOSE:  Under the supervision of the Physicians, provides high quality, accurate and compassionate patient care to a diverse patient population. The Student Assistant assists the physicians, technicians and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services by performing visual fields, ophthalmic imaging, patient rooming and initial visual workups.  

REQUIREMENTS:  High school diploma and/or equivalent.  Part-time or full-time University or College level student status required. This position necessitates a minimum of 8 – 12 hours per week. Evidence of organization and problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Work effectively with individuals and team. Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

PREFERENCES: Experience in a medical clinical practice preferred.

SOME OF THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Interacts professionally and compassionately with patients daily.
2. Explains and performs visual field testing on patients.
3. Performs ophthalmic imaging on patients.
4. Assists with rooming of patients.
5. Disinfects, stocks and maintains examination rooms.
