    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Maintain automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems, real-time next bus arrival (HEA) system, automatic passenger counters (APCs), destination signs, automatic voice annunciators, electronic fare boxes, Google Transit Feed and HASTUS scheduling system. Generate reports from data obtained from various database systems. Participate in the operations and planning of survey preparation, tabulation and reporting of responses. Attend both stakeholder meetings and public meetings representing the company. Communicate with the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Transportation Services Public Transit Division. Prepare mapping using Arc GIS to plan service improvements or deletions. Utilize APC data for Title VI evaluation to report to the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Transportation Services Public Transit Division. Respond to Customer Service complaints in a timely and grammatically correct fashion. Prepare plans for future service implementations or deletions. Prepare preferred vehicle assignments and track spare ratio.

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    1. Geographic information systems (GIS) experience desired.
    2. Interpret varying types of data to make informed decisions.
    3. Extrapolate data from company databases using query/logic languages and interfaces.
    4. Learn and understand bus route structure, operations of fixed-route bus system, and basic concepts of bus routing scheduling.
    5. Interpret and create informational maps to assist in the understanding of planned proposals.
    6. Fundamental knowledge of statistics.
    7. Microsoft SQL experience desired.
    8. R or Python experience desired.
    9. Develop syntax in SPSS statistical software a plus.
    10. Familiarity with Title VI, census tract, and jobs data.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

    1. Bachelor's degree preferably in urban planning or data science. Equivalent and pertinent work experience may be substituted for education.
    2. Computer literacy with a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office, with desired functional experience with Excel and Access.

    OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS:

    1. Attention to detail and ability to perform tasks without close supervision.
    2. Communicate effectively and tactfully, both orally and in writing.
    3. Work effectively with fellow employees, all levels within the company and the general public.
    4. Must pass a Company-sponsored drug test.
    5. Work overtime, weekends and holidays as required.
    6. Perform other duties as assigned.
