POSITION SUMMARY:
The PD Engineer II is responsible for assisting PD Team and Plant Management in the development and engineering of new products.
THIS POSITION HIGHLY FOCUSES ON CAD DESIGN AND DRAFTING FURNITURE, MAINLY BOOKCASES AND ENTERTAINMENT CENTERS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the PD Team and Plant Management on product development
- Analyze new product designs and develop manufacturing specifications to best utilize existing manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Apply knowledge of production processes to create, develop, and maintain automated methods for processing materials.
- Create detailed engineered CAD drawings of finished units and raw materials
- Responsible for the structural designs and recommendation of engineering materials
- Assist with the evaluation of product flow
- Assist with design of new product considering utilization of common parts and processes
- Assist with the production of prototypes and costing
- Research and investigate, as necessary, acquisition of new equipment and production systems in order to increase production efficiency and accuracy and decrease labor costs.
- Assist with the introduction of new product at Market
- Analyze existing and new Bill of Materials for the use of common parts, which have a great impact on labor costs, inventory carrying costs, and cash flow
- Program CNC and Dado machines
- Interface with Cut Planner for material optimization and creation of cultists for saws
- Create, maintain and provide manufacturing department final assembly and part drawings
- Consult department managers where new techniques and processes are required in order to assure execution of new designs.
- Responsible for the input and maintenance of milling programs
- Work with the manufacturing floor in the introduction and production of new products
- Constant evaluation of material utilization
- Maintain drawings and milling programs, Bill of Materials
- Maintain and update policies and procedures for the engineering function.
- Assist Plant Management with the evaluation of standard costs
- Other task or duties as assigned by the Company

- AutoCAD 3D, Word, Excel

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- (1+) OR (5+) years’ experience in Furniture Design, Computer Design Programs, Drafting Standards
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Occasional reaching forward/overhead extension
- Able to sit or stand for long periods at a time.
- Frequent Walking
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
